Project Overview
CTS delivered the installation of a new 2-track under-track crossing (UTX) beneath the eastbound and westbound Piccadilly Line to facilitate the routing of new DC cables. The package incorporated precast chamber solutions to improve constructibility, installation speed, and safety within a tightly controlled possession environment.

Project Scope
- Installation of 2-track under-track crossing (UTX)
- Integration of precast chamber units
- Cable run modifications and DC cable interface works
- Excavation and temporary works including shoring
- Installation of ducts encased in C40 concrete
- Construction of duct entry plinths
- Removal of temporary works and reinstatement

Delivery
The core UTX installation was completed within a 52-hour possession, requiring detailed sequencing, logistics planning, and resource coordination. The use of precast chambers reduced on-site in-situ concrete works and improved safety by minimising manual handling and silica exposure.
Materials delivery and spoil removal were managed using RRVs and engineering trains, with CTS overseeing the works from survey and methodology development through to installation and final handback.
